The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has released its list of the Best Tourist Villages for 2024, highlighting those that have managed to preserve their cultural and natural heritage while promoting sustainable tourism. These destinations have not only succeeded in attracting visitors but have also improved the quality of life of their communities and protected the environment. Some of them are:

UNWTO is a specialized agency of the United Nations focused on promoting responsible, sustainable, and accessible tourism for all. Its mission is to support economic growth, foster social inclusion, and enhance environmental sustainability.

To achieve this, it collaborates with governments, local communities, and the private sector to develop policies that improve the tourism experience and contribute to the economic development of regions.

Connecting Rural Destinations for Sustainable Development

UNWTO has launched this initiative to recognize rural villages that have achieved economic and social progress through tourism. The selected villages stand out not only for their natural and cultural richness but also for their sustainability efforts.
