In this 5-day tour in Puno, we will visit many places, including its main tourist attractions such as the Plaza de Armas and the San Juan Temple, a Cultural Heritage of the Nation. We will also explore Lake Titicaca, located 3,825 meters above sea level, which is home to several Peruvian islands, including Amantaní, Taquile, Tikonata, Suasi, Soto, Anapia, and the Floating Islands of the Uros.
Upon arrival at Juliaca airport, we will transfer you to your hotel in Puno. In the afternoon, we will visit the Huajsapata Hill to enjoy panoramic views of the city, the Puno Bay, and the Capachica and Chucuito peninsulas.
The tour will include the Dreyer Museum, the main square, the cathedral, the Candelaria Sanctuary, Pino Park, San Carlos School, and other points of interest that tell the story of the Altiplano and Lake Titicaca. We will also visit embroidery workshops and the Yavari Ship.
Juliaca (2,850 m) – Puno (3,825 m)
At 7:00 am, we will pick you up to travel to Chucuito, where we will visit the Temple of Fertility and the main square. Then, we will continue to Amaru Muru to see the interdimensional gate, the stone forest, and take a walk to capture some photos.
At 10:30 am, we will arrive at the Desaguadero border, and after the controls, we will head to the Tiahuanaco archaeological complex. After lunch, we will visit Puma Punku and other points of interest in the complex, such as the Sun Gate, the Stone Museum, and the pyramids, before returning to Puno around 6:30 pm.
Puno (3,825 m) – Chucuito (3,875 m) – Tiahuanaco (3,885 m) – Puno
Today, we will explore Lake Titicaca and its islands, starting with the Uros floating islands, known for their lifestyle based on totora reeds, which are used in their houses and crafts. Then, we will head to Amantaní Island, where we will walk to the rural homes to settle in.
In Amantaní, we will enjoy a typical lunch, rest, and visit the ceremonial centers of Pachamama and Pachatata. In the evening, we will share dinner with local families and participate in folk dances, wearing traditional clothing from the village.
Puno (3,825 m) – Amantaní (4,150 m)
In the morning, we will have breakfast with the families on Amantaní Island, and then we will head to Taquile Island. Upon arrival, we will start a 45-minute walk to the main square, where we will learn about the traditional lifestyle of the island, based on collective work and Inca principles.
On Taquile, we will enjoy views of the highland and learn about their customs. We will have lunch there and then return to Puno by boat.
Amantaní Island (4,150 m) – Taquile Island (4,050 m)
Depending on your flight time, we will head to Juliaca Airport, making a stop at the Sillustani archaeological site, located at 3,840 meters above sea level. This pre-Inca cemetery was built by the Qolla civilization in the 12th century, and it is surrounded by the Umayo Lagoon, offering spectacular views of the mountains. After the visit, we will continue to the airport for your return flight.
