Hidden in the foothills of a great snow-capped mountain, we find this impressive crystalline lake called Humantay, one of the most important destinations in the Cusco region.
This natural attraction is located in the town of Soraypampa, formerly only visited by those who ventured to make the trek to the snowy Salkantay.
Today, the Humantay Lagoon has become one of the most visited places by national and foreign travelers. The hike is steep but not very long, so it is accessible to almost everyone.
If you enjoy beautiful landscapes, a short hike and a beautiful turquoise lake, this excursion is for you!
Early in the morning, transportation will pick us up from the hotel and drive to the Humantay Lagoon, known for its crystal clear waters and breathtaking views of the nearby snow-capped mountains.
After approximately 2 hours, we will stop for breakfast in the village of Mollepata and then continue to the final destination. We will be able to enjoy the scenery and canyons for another hour until we reach the village of Soraypampa, the starting point of the hike.
The ascent to the lake is about 2 hours and we will be able to witness the crystal clear water of the lake and the impressive mountain views at the top. There will be time to enjoy the wonderful views, take pictures and breathe the purest air of all.
Here we will participate in a demonstration of the use of the coca leaf and a small offering to our Apus (Mountain Gods) that allowed us to get there.
The descent to Soraypampa will take about 1h30, and we will take the transport back to Cusco, with a stop in Mollepata for lunch.
Arrival in Cusco and end of services to continue with other destinations or excursions.
Remember that travelers making the trip to the Humantay Lagoon must be in good physical condition and adapted to the altitude.
