Trekking with llamas to huchuy qosqo 1 day

Huchuy Qosqo is located north of the city of Cusco, whose name in Quechua means "little Cusco", this archaeological site is little visited, but offers a spectacular hike.

Experts say that it was originally an administrative and military center near the Inca ruins of Pisac. In the archaeological park you will see the perfect blend of Inca architecture, between fine stone carvings and adobe.

Also, you will see the famous Colcas that were used to store and preserve food, at that time this was an important agricultural center for the production of corn, potatoes, oca, quinoa and others in Inca times.

During the walk you will be able to admire the natural combination that nature offers us with the impressive colors of the landscape, wildlife and historical cultures, but it is not only that, you will also cross the impressive high altitude forests and fresh grasslands covered with ichu, the preferred grass for llamas and alpacas.

And the most beautiful thing about this trek is that you will be able to walk your way along with your llama, apart from that you will see herds of llamas and alpacas that walk freely and graze all day long.

The trek takes you on a spectacular route through the mountains, along cobblestone paths that were built by the Incas, restored by the Qapacñan project, until you reach the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo, built by the ninth Inca, is a park located on a high plateau with stunning views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas and snow-capped peaks.

After this we will arrive to the high part of Chinchero from where we will have a spectacular view of the Cordillera of Urubamba with its mountains of the Veronica 5828 m, the Chicon and the Qolque cruz.

We will pass by the Pihuray lagoon, which for the local inhabitants represents the feminine side.

Finally we will arrive to the community of Taucca where we will meet with the llamero who will take care of us, in our journey we will be accompanied by llamas.

Our walk will begin by climbing easily until we reach the small lagoon of Cusicocha, in this place sometimes we can see the high altitude geese "Huallatas", then our walk will take a slight difficulty to climb to the Apacheta 4200m high point of our hike, from here we will begin to descend to reach the sector of Pukamarca, small town named because the color of the earth is red, an ideal place to have lunch.

After lunch we will continue our hike to the canyon Puma Puncu "the door of the puma". From here, we will walk along an original Inca trail, which has been restored as part of the Qapacñan project.

This trail will take you to the isolated and mysterious Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo ("little Cusco") built over the Sacred Valley of the Incas at 3600 meters above sea level. This site is formed by magnificent terraces overlooking the valley and stone and adobe constructions and is only accessible by foot, it was built by the eighth Inca ruler.

Once at the site, we will have a guided tour, who will show us all the incredible Inca buildings of the site, such as sacred temples, warehouses, Inca terraces for agriculture and the Inca reservoir used to store water during the dry season.

Once we have visited the site we will have to continue our hike for this we will have to go down for about two hours to the village of Lamay where our vehicle will be waiting for us who will take us to our hotel in the city of Cusco.

Undoubtedly this will be one of the best trekking that you will have done because it helps you to free yourself from the noisy city, a good place to relax and above all you will take the best memories of this magnificent trip.
